Connection: Encouraging engagement of Black Alumni with one another, current students, and the PDS community at large

Community: Supporting current and incoming PDS Black students and their families through mentorship and advocacy

Collaboration: Expanding the anti-racist learning through trainings, readings and discourse and a united commitment to this work in conjunction and partnership with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts of the Alumni Council, Princeton Day School and the PDS BAS

Goals

To fulfill the BAS mission, our goal is to work with the Princeton Day School community through a three-pronged approach.

Relationship with Leadership

To provide oversight and serve as collaborators by:

  • Serving as a vetting body for changes PDS is enacting (to curriculum, hiring, admissions, standards of conduct, etc.)

  • Providing input on how & when to engage with Black PDS alumni

  • Participating in trainings & workshops to address racial inequity at national and local level

Relationship with Alumni Council

To be connector of and advocate for Black alumni by:

  • Creating a pipeline for future Black PDS students

  • Demonstrating the influence and capital of the Black PDS alumni

  • Serving as a resource for changes to programming to meet the needs of Black alumni

  • Connecting Black alumni with the PDS community

Relationship with Students & Families

To be a trusted, unbiased resource by:

  • Creating student-alumni connections around college selection, intended majors, and careers aspirations

  • Ensuring that current students have access to all the necessary resources for their success

  • Supporting parents as they acclimate to and navigate through the PDS culture
